it’s a long weekend here in the states — we’re celebrating memorial day so monday’s a holiday and it feels a bit empty around town already. so forgive us, but we’re taking off early, too! i love this image by Sarah Hermans and was inspired to do something a little different for this week’s friday finds before we take off this weekend. I thought I’d share a few TV shows starring some amazing female leads that I’m binge-watching right now in the hopes that if you have some lazy downtime this weekend, you might like to watch them too! here goes! have a lovely long weekend — we’ll see you back here on tuesday!
xo, victoria
- killing eve — starring sandra oh and jodie comer. a hilarious, really well done BBC dark comedy about a beautifully flamboyant, psychopathic female assassin named Villanelle (jodie comer) and a newly recruited MI6 operative Eve Polastri (sandra oh) who are rather obsessed with each other. jodie comer’s facial expressions kill me (no pun intended) and her lines are some of the best. developed and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, i love this show and there are two seasons out to binge.
- fleabag — starring the aforementioned magnificent phoebe waller-bridge, fleabag is also a dark comedy (come to think of it all of these shows are!) that i loved so much I watched both seasons all in about three evenings. a British show about a dry-witted woman, known only as Fleabag, with absolutely no filter as she navigates life and love in London while trying to cope with tragedy. it’s brilliant!
- dead to me — starring christina applegate and linda cardellini. the two women meet in a support group and all is not what it might appear to be. mayhem ensues while searching for the hit-and-run driver who mowed down jen’s (christina appelgate) husband while Judy (linda cardellini) tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it. a weirdly funny show about grief, loss, and forgiveness.
